We occasionally need to print a membership card for a member who does not use a smartphone for whatever reason. In this case, the card must have an expiration date even though there is a QR code that anyone could scan to test the validity. Our members have access to over 300 other locations through a reciprocal agreement that all use different membership systems. Hence, they need to be able to verify the card visually. They won't know they can scan the card with a cell phone to test the validity of the card.
So the recommendation is either one or both of these: 1. add an expiration date and remove the status (Active). 2. add a short explanation of how to test the validity by scanning the QR code with a mobile device and remove the status (Active).
