Today, I'm excited to introduce one of our most requested features!
Gift Memberships!
There's a lot that went into the long development of this, so I really appreciate all of the feedback we've received.
The variety of differences in the way that folks wanted to handle Gifts was very interesting - but we came up with a clever solution that fits most of the needs that we heard.

Hi team!
As a quick update, we're making good progress on the first version of this feature! We hope to have the initial version released very shortly. :)
Like a lot of our features, there are a lot of great suggestions in this thread and they've helped us build an initial version that we'll be able to iterate on.
Here are some more details on what we're working on releasing soon:
* Create a URL for all Organizations that allow their memberships to be purchased as Gifts
* When a Membership is purchased as a Gift, the membership info will no longer have to match the logged in user
* When a Membership is purchased as a Gift, the checkout page won't ask for a password
* This way, the Gift recipient will be the one who receives the Membership Confirmation and details of their membership
As always, we're excited to release this first version and get feedback!
Additionally, once we release this feature - I might break off some of the wonderful suggestions in this thread into separate Feedback requests.

We would love to see a gift check box option that then shows fields they should enter for gift recipients. As it is now, we are selling separate membership gift certificates through our office but it requires a lot of extra staff handling and isn't the best.

We've received a lot of feedback on 'Gifting' Memberships (and we'd love to hear any additional feedback in the comments!) -- and this concept does mean different things to different organizations, so we've reviewing and researching with organizations to put together a scope of the initial project.

How we've set up gift memberships in the past is providing two checkout fields: one for collecting the gift giver's information, and one for collecting the gift recipient's information. That way we can follow up with the giver to let them know the gift was delivered, and send them their tax deductible information, but also have the full information for the recipient so we can send them their new membership without having to reach out to them for anything.
Maybe once the recipient is added to an organization, the giver's info can move to the notes or timeline section?
Since many gifts are purchased for special occasions like birthdays, it would also be amazing to have an option to schedule the gift membership so that it only goes into effect and emails the recipient on the giver's provided date. We've currently done that through a notes field and put it into play manually, but since Join It is already so great at automations, thought it wouldn't hurt to suggest that too! :)

Leah Pelkey: I'm not sure how this helps? I'd like to be able to have a field for payment (non-renewing) from the logged-in member that created another membership for the person receiving the gift and sent THEM a confirmation email as well. Does that make sense?
