Membership timeline to show updates from Members

In the Timeline, is there a way to also add other activity? Such as when the membership gets updated with new payment settings, removes auto-renewal, sets to cancel, updates email address, etc?

Currently, if a membership is cancelled and then they sign up again using the same information, the cancellation is not included in the Timeline on the membership record. It would be very helpful for addressing issues to know whether a member previously cancelled and then joined again. Presently, these records are indistinguishable from a record for a member who has had a continuous membership.

An 'Updated' flag or something of this nature would be nice. Particularly if the membership has been asked to do an update needed by the organization.
